The spinal column

The spinal column is the most important part of the skeletal system (together with the muscles and joints that keep us upright). The spinal column fits together perfectly: 26 vertebrae and as many flexible intervertebral discs. The facet joints provide support when we stand. Via the intervertebral openings, nerve pathways leave the spinal cord for the muscles, organs and fibres.

Problem HEAD AND NECK NOT SUFFICIENTLY SUPPORTED

If the head and neck are not sufficiently supported, the result can be neck pain, stiffness and even headache.

Ergosleep® solution BED ZONE IN THE HIGHEST POSITION

Head and neck are supported.

Problem PRESSURE AROUND THE SHOULDERS

The shoulders must be able to sink. The neck and head will otherwise be too low, resulting in curvature of the spinal column.

Ergosleep® solution BED ZONE IN THE LOWEST POSITION

The shoulders are able to sink and the neck is correctly positioned.

Problem INSUFFICIENT LUMBAR SUPPORT

To better support the spine, the hollow around the lumbar region needs to be padded – whether you lie on your side or your back.

Ergosleep® solution BED ZONE IN THE HIGHEST POSITION

The hollow lumbar region is padded so that the spine has the support it needs.

Problem UPWARD PRESSURE ON THE HIPS

The hips need to be able to sink into the bed, otherwise there will be increased pressure at that point and there will also be insufficient lumbar support.

Ergosleep® solution BED ZONE IN THE LOWEST POSITION

The pelvis has sufficient space, which relieves the pressure. The lower back is also in the right position.

Problem THE LEGS ARE NOT POSITIONED PROPERLY

The legs become increasingly narrow from the hips to the feet. On a standard bed, they are therefore often too low. This places added pressure on the pelvis and bottom vertebrae.

Ergosleep® solution BED ZONE IN THE HIGHEST POSITION

Because the legs are higher, the pelvis rests in a natural position and the spine remains straight. Furthermore, the leg muscles and blood vessels can relax fully, which helps the circulation.

What wakes you

One of the things that will wake you up is if your bed isn’t comfortable enough. That can severely disrupt your night’s sleep and result in back and neck pains.
